Can I use a Banana Passion Waterproof Blanket for my pets?

Care

How to wash my Banana Passion Waterproof Blanket?

Wash your blanket on a regular washing cycle – just like you would wash your towels or sheets with a fast spin cycle. Avoid washing on a delicate cycle as it will end up heavy and waterlogged. Select a cool or warm water setting (max 40º C / 104º F) and avoid using an extra hot water wash.

Dry your blanket in the tumble dryer for no longer than 30 minutes (to avoid melting the waterproof film) or hang out on the washing line in the sunshine.

How do I dry my Banana Passion waterproof blanket?

You can line dry it or tumble dry on low heat for up to 30 minutes. Avoid high heat, as it can melt the waterproof layer and make the blanket feel crunchy or less effective. It’s best not to iron or dry clean the blanket, because the high heat is likely to damage the blanket.

Larger blankets, like our XL and XXL sizes, take longer to dry. If left damp for too long, they may develop a musty smell. If home machines aren’t cutting it, heading to a laundromat with larger washers and dryers can make the process easier.

How do I clean tough stains like bodily fluids, oils, lubricants or smells?

Banana Passion waterproof blankets are designed to absorb bodily fluids, oils, and lubricants, which means cleaning them thoroughly is key, especially to prevent lingering odours. If you’re dealing with stubborn stains or smells, here are a few tips that can help:

  • Wash with a bit of extra detergent and use a longer spin cycle.
  • Add a tablespoon of bicarbonate soda (bicarb) for odour control.
  • Use warm (not boiling) water to help kill bacteria. Maximum 40º C / 104º F.
  • Dry in direct sunlight when possible or tumble dry on low heat.

Occasionally, you can use about 30mls of vinegar when washing to keep odours away.

Hot tip: Having a couple of smaller blankets in rotation can make washing and drying way more manageable!

Can you put a waterproof blanket in the dryer?

It depends on the type of waterproof blanket, but generally, yes, you can use a dryer. However, it’s important to dry it for no more than 30 minutes at the lowest heat setting (around 40–50°C).

Waterproof blankets have a laminated or waterproof layer that can be damaged by high heat, causing it to melt, feel crunchy, or lose effectiveness. If possible, it’s best to air dry. But if you must use a dryer, always choose the lowest setting and limit the drying time.
